Glass and Energy Efficiency

The objective of reaching a better thermal insulation level with Isıcam directed Şişecam Flat Glass to develop Isıcam S and Isıcam K, which are the high-performance insulation glass units manufactured from Low-E coated glasses which have the transparency of the standard glass but provide a more effective insulation and therefore a much higher energy saving.

Thanks to Low-E coated glass under the body of Isıcam S, the product reduces losses of heat by 50% compared to Isıcam, and enables saving on fuel costs. In Turkey, where four seasons are experienced with winter and summer conditions in many parts, Isıcam K was developed for the requirements of the consumers. In addition to the thermal insulation features of Isıcam S, it reduces solar penetration by 40% in summer and enables saving on electric costs due to air conditioner use.

Isıcam brand adds value to the consumers' life thanks to its value added new products with a gradually expanding and growing area of influence, enables the users to enjoy daylight, while save on energy indoors, and increases the quality of life of the society.

Making an important scale of energy saving by using Isıcam S and Isıcam K as highly energy efficient product can be possible. It is known that single glass is used in approximately 47% of the currently available residence stock in our country. 1,25 billion dollar energy saving could be obtained if all of the currently available residences in Turkey were converted to Isıcam S or Isıcam K.

For example, if Isıcam S/Isıcam K was used instead of single glazing at a residence,

  • the annual CO2 emission would decrease 648 kg; in other words Isıcam S/Isıcam K would assume the duty of 3 oak trees and provide a benefit equal to CO2 reduction of 3 oak trees.

Again, if Isıcam S/Isıcam K was used instead of double glazing at a new or existing residence;

  • the annual CO2 emission would decrease 197 kg; in other words Isıcam S/Isıcam K would assume the duty of 1 oak trees and provide a benefit equal to CO2 reduction of 1 oak tree.
