History

1961

  • ​​Production of flat glass by using sheet technology (Fourcault) was launched by Çayırova Cam Sanayii A.Ş. in Çayırova-Gebze, Turkey.​

1967

  • The second flat glass furnace with Fourcault Technology was inaugurated in Çayırova.​

1967 - 1976

  • Manufacturing of tempered glass, patterned glass, automotive glass, mirror and double glazing units began, enabling product diversification.
  • At the Çayırova Plant, the production process of the first furnace was changed to Pittsburgh Technology.

1977

  • A license agreement for the production of float glass was signed with Pilkington.​

1981

  • Turkey’s first float glass line was inaugurated in Lüleburgaz by Trakya Cam Sanayii A.Ş., which was established in 1978.​

1990

  • Second float line was inaugurated in Lüleburgaz.​

1981 - 1993

  • Capacity was increased in tempered glass, patterned glass and mirror lines.
  • Production of tinted glass began.
  • Şişecam Flat Glass entered to global markets through exports.
  • Trakya Cam Sanayii A.Ş. was listed on the İstanbul Stock Exchange in 1990.

1993

  • The Trakya Automotive Glass Plant, established in 1991, started production.​

1994

  • The Coated glass line was inaugurated through the partnership of Şişecam and the German glass company Interpane (all shares of Interpane transferred to Şişecam in 1996).​

1996

  • ​The first float line in Mersin was inaugurated.​

1997

  • Flat glass production through the use of sheet technology was ceased.​

1998

  • Mirror and laminated glass lines with high production capacities were inaugurated in Lüleburgaz.​

2000

  • The second float line was inaugurated in Mersin.​

2003

  • Trakya Glass Bulgaria EAD was founded in Bulgaria as a subsidiary of Trakya Cam Sanayii A.Ş.​

2004

  • The groundbreaking of Trakya Glass Bulgaria EAD’s flat glass and glassware plants were held in Targovishte, Bulgaria.​

2005

  • The decision was taken to invest in tempered glass and mirror material alongside the float line in Bulgaria.
  • In order to use Interpane technology in the establishment of a coasted glass line in Yenişehir, Bursa-Turkey, a technical agreement was signed with Interpane AG and investment ensued.

2006

  • ​​The float line in Bulgaria was inaugurated. Mirror and tempered glass were also included in the portfolio.​​​

2007

  • ​Two float lines started production in Turkey, Bursa Yenişehir at Trakya Yenişehir Cam Sanayii A.Ş; the coated glass line in Bursa Yenişehir started production.​
  • The coated glass line was commissioned and production began.
  • As a result of the merger with Camiş Lojistik Hizmetleri ve Ticaret A.Ş., the logistics organization was repositioned under Şişecam Düzcam.
  • Production of home glassware began in Bulgaria.

2008

  • In order to serve the construction sector, a laminated glass line was inaugurated in October under the corporate body of Trakya Yenişehir Cam Sanayii A.Ş.
  • Sales offices were opened in Greece and Romania, thus expanding regional organization.

2010

  • The Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) to carry our float glass, mirror and coated glass investments in partnership with Saint-Gobain in Russia's Tatarstan Republic was signed on 12 October 2010.
  • In Egypt, Şişecam Düzcam's ventured Saint-Gobain Glass Egypt factory was commissioned.
  • The Automotive Glasses Plant, which was established in Bulgaria, started operation.
  • The gradual operational use of the Energy Glass Processing Plant Investment in Mersin was completed.

2011

  • The first and second lines of the new patterned glass furnace investment in Mersin were completed in June 2011 and November 2011, respectively.

2012

  • The second mirror line in Turkey was inaugurated in Mersin in July 2012.​

2013

  • Şişecam Flat Glass acquired a 50% interest share in India’s HNG Float Glass Limited Company.
  • The coated glass line in Bulgaria began production of energy-saving high-performance coated glass products.
  • Şişecam Flat Glass wholly acquired Fritz Holding GmbH, which is one of the leading encapsulated glass suppliers for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in Europe.
  • The company purchased a 90% stake in Glass Corp S.A. to expand in the field of automotive glass production in Romania.

2014

  • The flat glass line installed under Trakya Polatlı Cam Sanayii A.Ş. in the Ankara Polatlı Industrial Zone was inaugurated in April. 
  • In the Russian Federation, the float line investment under Trakya Glass Rus JSC started operations in June with a 70% Şişecam Düzcam and a 30% Saint Gobain shareholding structure.
  • The Automotive Glass Plant started operation in the Republic of Tatarstan, in Russia.​

2015

  • ​The second float line was inaugurated at the Trakya Glass Bulgaria EAD in Bulgaria.​
  • ​A mirror line was commissioned at the Trakya Glass Rus JSC in Russia.​
  • Electricity Production from Waste Heat Recovery facility was put into operation at Trakya Glass Bulgaria EAD flat glass plant in Bulgaria.

2016

  • ​​​​Electricity Production from Waste Heat Recovery facility was put into operation at Trakya Cam Sanayii A.Ş. Mersin Flat Glass Plant.
